BBS Express! Professional |
|
BBS Express! Professional is a commercial product and can not be downloaded from here. Go to
http://members.tcq.net/video61/
and contact the owner of the site for more info.
The Story:
Since I obtained a licence to run Pro! BBS, back in 1996, I didn't get support in any way. However the manual states that it is possible to
write your own support-modules for the BBS using ACTION! or MAC/65 assembler, the required info about how to was not supplied, nor available
anywhere. Questions to the owner of the copyrights back then were simply ignored. I started to collect all kind of info using other channels to
be able to code something myself and I finally had enough info to code some small things in 6502 assembly.
As of today (Februari 2004) things have not changed much. BBS Pro! 5.0b still has some bugs that were never solved. To make things even worse, the
owner of the rights of the BBS package has changed, partially support was given to those who run the BBS on an emulator, and the few hardcore
users who run the BBS on the system were it was ment for seem to be forgotten. Technical info required to make an attempt to solve the bugs myself
will still not be given, strange topics about copyrights and bindings to a contact came to live, with the result we're back at the situation as it
was in 1996...
This is where I decided to reverse some things. I'll make about everything available on the net, and when someone disagrees they can contact me.
Then I can choose myself if I'll ignore the complaint or not. People who claim to have copyright on software which they don't have can go to h*ll,
and as being there I can show you the way...
Disclaimer:
All programs on this page can and may only be used for those SysOps who run the BBS Express! Professional software for the ATARI 8-Bit computers.
Many modules are originally written for older versions of BBS.COM and may or may not be compatible with newer versions (current version is 5.0b).
Some modules require a custom set-up to make them work with updated versions of BBS.COM. Documentation is included in the ARChives if it was available.
Since many projects were done by Pro! SysOps in stead of professional coders, the status of the software is not allways clear. If you are the
author of the software, and you don't want it to be available for the public, drop me a note at '' mnx AT fox-1 DOT nl '' and it will be removed
from the site.
If you have modules or any other related info that is not listed on this page and you want to make them available for other Pro! BBS SysOps,
I'll be glad to add it to the page.
People who agree with the above statements:
* SysOp Fox-1 (mnx AT fox-1 DOT nl), Thunderdome, the ATARI 8-Bit BBS, Pro! node#471
* SysOp Marius, Atari Inside, Pro! node#476
