Mount the 74ls280 on top of the 74hct640 (the SCSI linedriver on the BlackBox) as in the
drawing, and you're able to run those popular SCSI harddisks which require a parity-bit.
Do NOT try to do a lo-level format on those harddisks (HDFMT.COM),
as this may destroy important information on the boot-sectors of the HD.
Just start creating partitions and you're done.

update June 2012:
Avoid the GSS branded GS74LS280 IC's.
Got 3 of those and none of them work reliable (tested on CSS Black Box and Atari MegaSTe).
Never had problems with other brands (Motorola, Texas Instruments, etc.)
